IEEE 802.15.4g Sub-GHz Mesh Network Suite
A complete home automation platform built on sub-GHz mesh — wall penetration and range that 2.4 GHz alternatives cannot match.
Read the StoryProblem Statement
Mass-market home automation in India runs on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, where reinforced concrete walls and dense apartment RF noise routinely break links between rooms. Customers buy a smart switch and find that half the devices drop offline at peak hours when neighbouring routers crowd the band.
OEMs asked us for a stack that would carry an entire 3-BHK on a single mesh, deliver sub-second control latency, and survive without rework when a router elsewhere in the building changes channel.
Planning
We chose IEEE 802.15.4g sub-GHz because the 865 MHz Indian band has roughly four times the wall-penetration of 2.4 GHz at comparable transmit power, and the channel is uncongested in residential blocks. The protocol stack was built on a custom routing layer optimised for switches and dimmers — devices that send small, infrequent control packets rather than streams.
Hardware was designed around a single SoC reference so that switches, dimmers, sensors, and the Matter-bridge gateway all share firmware modules and a common OTA pipeline. This compresses an OEM's BOM and shortens their certification path.
Testing
We built an automated mesh-soak rig with 32 nodes laid out across two floors of our office, deliberately placing reinforced columns between hops. The rig runs continuously and feeds packet-loss, retry-count, and latency telemetry into a dashboard, so a regression in routing code is visible within an hour.
For RF qualification we worked with a TEC-recognised lab on conducted and radiated emissions, plus blocking and selectivity tests at the edge of the Indian sub-GHz allocation.
Production
Complete concept to production with box-build and ship to customer warehouse.
Three Indian smart-home brands currently ship on the platform; cumulative deployment is well into the tens of thousands of nodes, and we operate the OTA backend as a managed service.
