Micro GNSS Tracker Module
An exceptionally compact 12 × 12 mm GNSS location module — embeddable into virtually any product, with BLE-LR range up to 1500 m.
Read the StoryProblem Statement
Asset tracking modules on the market are physically large because they integrate a cellular modem alongside the GNSS engine. Embed one inside a power tool, a medical infusion pump, or a courier package and the product becomes either too thick or too expensive.
The brief was a truly small GNSS module — small enough to disappear inside a consumer product — that still reported location reliably, even indoors and across a campus.
Planning
We split connectivity from positioning. The 12 × 12 mm module carries a multi-constellation GNSS receiver and a long-range BLE radio (BLE-LR coded PHY). It does not carry a cellular modem at all. Instead, a paired site gateway aggregates BLE traffic and uplinks via any known good mechanism from a position where good RF and good power are easy.
This split halved the BOM cost, halved the footprint, and tripled the battery life. For asset categories where location is a per-campus problem (factories, warehouses, college blocks), it is also strictly better — there is no cellular blackout zone.
Testing
GNSS performance was characterised against a Spirent simulator across the urban canyon, dense foliage, and indoor profiles. We deliberately tested at the edge of the IRNSS constellation footprint because Indian-region performance was a stated requirement.
BLE-LR range was validated outdoors at our Vadodara airfield, with the module on a moving cycle and a fixed gateway 1.5 km away. Field performance was within 6% of the bench-measured link budget.
Production
The module is shipped on tape-and-reel for SMT assembly into customer products. We provide a reference layout, a stencil aperture file, and the bring-up firmware, so an OEM is producing populated boards within two weeks of receiving samples.
Partners include a power-tool brand, a logistics network, and a medical equipment OEM — applications where size and battery life are non-negotiable.
